Apogee Builder Group provides finish carpentry services as part of our full general contracting and remodeling projects and as a standalone service for new construction and remodeled spaces that need a quality carpenter to do the final work.
Finish carpentry is the last thing that happens in a construction or remodeling project and the first thing people notice when they walk in. The baseboards that run clean and tight to the floor. The door casings that are square and properly mitered. The crown molding that follows the ceiling line without gaps. When finish carpentry is done right, you don't notice it — the room just looks complete. When it's done wrong, you notice it every day.
Apogee Builder Group provides finish carpentry services as part of our full general contracting and remodeling projects and as a standalone service for new construction and remodeled spaces that need a quality carpenter to do the final work. We serve homeowners throughout Salt Lake County, Utah County, and Davis County.
Baseboard Installation
Baseboards are installed after flooring and before paint. We cope interior corners and miter exterior corners for tight, professional joints. We also deal with out-of-plumb walls and unlevel floors — both common in Utah homes old and new — by scribing and shimming where needed rather than leaving gaps and caulking over them.
Door Casing Installation
Door casings frame the transition between the wall and the door opening. We install traditional casing profiles, craftsman-style flat casings, and custom profiles. In older homes in the Avenues, Holladay, and Capitol Hill, matching the original casing profile is sometimes necessary — we source or mill custom profiles when standard stock doesn't match.
Window Trim and Sill Installation
Window trim — the apron, stool, side casings, and head casing — is often skipped or simplified in newer Utah construction. We install complete window trim assemblies in remodels and additions, and we match existing profiles in older homes that have original window detail worth preserving.
Crown Molding Installation
Crown molding is where finish carpentry skills really show. Getting compound angles right, dealing with out-of-square corners, and running crown in a room with an irregular ceiling plane — this takes real skill and experience. We install crown molding in living rooms, dining rooms, master bedrooms, and kitchens across the Salt Lake Valley and Utah County.
Stair Railing and Baluster Installation
Stair railings — the handrail, newel posts, and balusters — are both a safety requirement and a major visual element in a home. We install traditional wood railing systems, metal balusters with wood rails, and modern cable rail systems. All stair rail installations meet Utah building code for height and baluster spacing.
Interior Door Installation
Hanging interior doors — hollow core, solid core, barn doors, pocket doors — and trimming them out is part of our finish carpentry scope. In older homes, door frames are often out of square and require shimming and careful planing to get the door to operate properly. In new construction, we install prehung doors as part of the rough framing and trim them out at the finish stage.
